Job Description: The job holder will be a passionate leader of our Plant Science and Regenerative Agriculture R&D team, developing the science, practices and interventions to make us the leading sustainable company in the world. You will collaborate with an extensive internal and external eco-system to develop crop innovations that address future global challenges (nutritional security, crop diversity, climate change, soil fertility and input constraints) aiming to transform food systems and deliver security of supply of plant based raw materials that are good for us and good for the planet. The successful candidate will most likely be a plant scientist, with a proven record of leading technical/scientific projects in one or more of the following expertise areas: plant genomics, crop improvement, digital agriculture, regenerative agronomical practices. S/he will be knowledgeable in the area of sustainability throughout the crop and product lifecycle. S/he will lead a team of experienced plant scientists and sustainability experts and will be responsible for team and talent development. S/he will need good communication and stakeholder management skills together with a good understanding of the business context we operate in and how to bring to life potential opportunities for the business. The successful candidate should also have experience and an ability to build strong partnerships and work effectively with academic, research institute and commercial partners to deliver the programme Job Responsibilities: Lead the science & technology area and act as a subject matter expert in the fields of plant science & agronomy (focus: tea), digital agriculture, and modern plant breeding Lead the scoping of future opportunities and develop a future fit eco-system to exploit cutting edge plant science technology to deliver the Plant Science strategy Together with the R&D LT and other business partners define the projects and interventions needed to deliver against our sustainability targets. Develop collaborations with internal and external contacts, Universities, NGOs, service providers to deliver work packages Lead the development of capabilities within the science area Find creative solutions for specific objectives / problems within projects Lead technical input to relevant F&R documents and training manuals to ensure maintenance of plant science expertise Provide mentoring and guidance to technicians and assistant managers Job Requirements: PhD in relevant subject (e.g. Plant Science, Crop Science, …) Proven experience in Science & Technology role in industry Proven experience in leading and conducting scientific research projects Proven track record of delivery and demonstrated success Good influencing and communication skills (written and verbal) Confidence, energy, adaptability, personal mastery, business acumen and resilience Positive and can-do mentality; make it happen!
