Job Description: The City of Modesto is currently recruiting for Recreation Leaders to join our team. The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department works closely with the community providing programming to youth, seniors and all citizens. As a department, we take our work seriously, but try not to take ourselves too seriously. Job Responsibilities: Exercise proper program safety practices and procedures while carrying out recreational program goals. Open and secure various facilities as assigned. Maintain and submit reports and records as required. Attend meetings and training sessions as required. Depending on assignment, maintain water chemistry for wading pools. Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service. Observe and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with established safety programs and procedures. Job Requirements: Develop favorable public relations and maintain an appearance that projects a positive image. Think clearly, quickly and accurately in emergencies. Work various shifts including days, evenings, weekend and holidays as assigned. Coordinate and schedule a variety of activities. Prepare reports and records. Read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. Perform basic arithmetic. Follow and interpret written instructions. Lift and carry heavy objects. Run forward, backward and laterally. Perform light custodial maintenance tasks.
