Job Description: Amazon Private Brands is looking for an Applied Scientist to join our Private Brand Intelligence (PBI) Sourcing Guidance team in building Machine Learning solutions at scale. PBI applies Machine Learning, Statistics, and Economics to derive actionable insights about the complex economy of Amazon’s retail business. We also develop statistical models and algorithms to drive strategic business decisions and improve operations. We are an interdisciplinary team of Economists, Engineers, and Scientists incubating and building day one solutions using cutting-edge technology, to solve some of the toughest business problems at Amazon. Qualification & Experience: Experience building and launching complex software systems Two or more years of hands-on experience in building Machine Learning solutions to solve real-world problems PhD degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or related field Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills. Experience with reinforcement learning, causal inference, and/or time series forecasting Significant peer-reviewed scientific contributions in premier journals and conferences Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, Scala, or a related language. Ability to deliver under tight deadlines. Experience building large-scale machine learning and/or deep learning models. Breadth and depth of knowledge in machine learning algorithms and best practices.
