Job Description: We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support our vehicle-level development and certification test activities with majority focus on brake systems and data acquisition. This Engineering Technician will help drive Tesla’s worldwide rollout of new vehicles by applying acquired knowledge of Tesla vehicle systems and diagnostics to configure and instrument test vehicles in preparation for, and during, development and certification tests, as well as executing performance validation. The role requires someone highly organized and confident in their ability to manage projects along a very fluid schedule. Job Responsibilities: Perform vehicle brake tests and dynamic tests according to stringent guidelines and procedures at test tracks Coordinate vehicle and equipment logistics. Perform initial analysis of test data Use measurement equipment to record results, ensure equipment is calibrated Mentor less-experienced technicians and operators to develop their skills and knowledge. Prepare prototype and production vehicles for certification tests for multiple global markets, including instrumentation installation, parts sourcing and changes, mileage accumulation, alignments, firmware updates and vehicle diagnostics. Design and build new instrumentation or test equipment as needed. Document results of testing and communicate issues found to developer teams Work with internal and external test labs and proving grounds to direct testing activities Diagnose any vehicle or equipment issues that arise during testing Job Requirements: Some fabrication skills preferred. Excellent at reviewing data for validity and communicating findings. In-depth knowledge of suspension, brakes and stability control systems Excellent vehicle driving record In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics 2 year technical/automotive degree preferred. Excellent written and spoken English. Excellent attention to detail, and prior experience documenting issues or builds is preferred. Extensive and documented performance driving history 5 years or more experience as an Engineering Technician or related role.
