Job Description: Tesla seeks a talented, business-oriented professional with technical aptitude who can autonomously manage all phases of new site origination & development processes for Tesla Supercharger stations across Ontario. The Project Developer finds the best locations to host Tesla Superchargers, taking into account a wide range of dynamic priorities. They manage market planning, site selection, contract negotiation with site hosts, utility and permitting feasibility assessments, and ensuring efficient collaboration with Tesla’s deployment team during development, construction and close-out. The Project Developer is fully responsible for ensuring current and future Tesla customers have the best experience at the most convenient charging stations. The responsibilities of this position may change over time. This role requires flexibility and adaptability to the evolving needs of Tesla’s programs, projects, and organization. Job Responsibilities: Build relationships with prospective new site hosts (from individuals to multinational corporations) Understand and remain current with EV charging market developments and industry changes Plan market development priorities throughout Ontario Work with attorneys to draft, negotiate and execute site host agreements Develop and manage pipeline of potential new sites that will meet the market’s goals to serve current and future Tesla customers Develop, refine, and manage comprehensive site due diligence including permitting and utility feasibility Work closely with Tesla deployment team to support development & installation process Constantly optimize internal processes to maximize efficiency Job Requirements: Experience that’s a Major Plus - project development, working with electrical utilities, charging infrastructure, legal agreements, utility easements. Autonomous - Self-motivated with a propensity toward taking action, execution and achievement of core objectives. The successful applicant must be based in Southwestern Ontario, in proximity to the Greater Toronto Area. Organized - Highly organized, able to simultaneously manage 50+ projects in various phases, with scrupulous attention to detail. Thrives in an ambiguous environment with a complex matrix of competing priorities. Visionary – Must be able to reasonably foresee market & project evolution, and envision strategies to overcome challenges before they have a negative business impact. Commercially minded – Must be able to understand site hosts’ business models and how Tesla charging interfaces with their goals, applying sound business judgment to make key decisions. Technical aptitude – Must be able to interact with both in-house and external technical experts and be able to understand technical concepts. Risk Manager - Thorough approach to reducing risk and getting ahead of problems before they impact project success Adaptable – Must be able to constantly adapt to a rapidly changing business environment and constantly evolving internal systems & processes.
