National Weather Service Jobs – Administrative Support Assistant

Job Description:

This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC), Fishery Resource Analysis and Monitoring (FRAM) Division, with one vacancy in Seattle, WA.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform general office management duties, including file and record management, managing incoming correspondence, answering phones, scheduling meetings and other activities for the Fishery Resource Analysis and Monitoring (FRAM) Director, and providing clerical assistance.
• Function as a time keeper for the FRAM Division, conducts new employee orientation sessions for administrative functions, prepares and submits training and personnel security documents.
• Serve as a FRAM Division Travel Administrator by preparing domestic and foreign travel orders and vouchers, securing reservations, processing necessary paperwork for official passport and visa documents, maintaining traveler profile information, and collecting data on participants and cost.
• Serve as a FRAM Division Property Management Steward, performing tasks such as annual verification of property, tracking of hand receipts, excessing unneeded property, and maintaining accurate records of property status in online tracking system.

Job Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National to apply.
• Required to pass a background investigation and fingerprint check.
• Must be suitable for Federal employment.
• Time-in-grade/band must be met by closing date of announcement.

Qualification & Experience:

• Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
