Job Description:

The Business Analyst I works under direct guidance and supervision to develop a comprehensive understanding of customer operational business needs and assist in the research, development, delivery and organization transition of technical recommendations, services and solutions. IT supports a complex technology infrastructure consisting of a network of desktops, platforms, servers, routers, hubs and telecommunication equipment. The IT infrastructure links mission critical applications with departments and Offices that rely on their operation to conduct their daily business with citizens, businesses, state, county and other local government organizations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in system and service management/planning through requirement development and analysis; proposes and documents new product features and updates.
  • Works closely with supervisor, fellow staff, leadership, internal service providers (developers, operations personnel, specialists, project managers) and a variety of end users/stakeholders to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.
  • Creates, documents and owns the Requirements Traceability Matrix.
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of the direction, structure, governance and drivers of customer organizations and shares knowledge with peers via discussion or documentation.
  • Identifies project stakeholders and user classes/roles; documents user class characteristics; identifies appropriate representatives for each user class and negotiates user responsibilities.
  • Assists with the establishment and implementation of effective requirement practices as needed. Provides support related to development of the Project Management
  • Office requirements engineering policies, procedures and tools. Recommends ways to reuse requirements across projects.
  • Participates in communication between customers and internal service providers, including developers, operations personnel, specialists and project managers.
  • Provides support to Project Managers in tracking requirement status and managing changes to baseline requirements through effective application of change control processes.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel at all levels of the organization in order to obtain, analyze and discuss business processes and solutions.
  • Must possess excellent listening and interpersonal skills including the ability to understand and detect non-verbalized questions and concerns.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of information, organize, multitask and reprioritize as situations change.
  • Ability to quickly analyze and understand written documents as they apply to the customer’s business.
  • Ability to negotiate priorities, resolve conflicts among project stakeholders and handle difficult situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in both technical and user-friendly language to customers, managers and technical staff. Strong customer service skills required.
