The EU CF PXT PMO is on the front line of that mission by deriving and reporting, EU wide, the insights and analytics that inform and drive forward the HR activities to ultimately improve our people metrics. Our Research & Analytics (R&A) team has a key need to implement a consolidated data platform to allow us to centralize the end-to-end management of our data into a single platform and lead to major improvements in our reporting and research projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- As a Data Engineer, you should have strong analytical skills and expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of a wide variety of siloed data sets with a varied combination of the five V’s of big data.
- You should be an expert in the architecture of scalable and automated data analytics products and solutions, using AWS and Amazon’s BDT (Big Data Technologies) tools and following state of the art data architecture and software development (e.g. CI/CD pipelines) best practices for the Enterprise.
- You should be an expert in navigating through the internal Amazon’s data privacy processes and European data regulation related to highly confidential information (human resources preferred) with prior experience certifying data analytics solutions and products according to internal processes and policies (including but not exclusive to Infosec, KALE and ANVIL).
- You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business analysts, data scientists, BIEs, PMs, HR Leaders to determine how best to design the data architecture for reporting and advanced analytics.
- You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable ETL processes in the data analytics platform to support the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data, and use it to deliver the data as service which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day HR decision making.
- You will need to review technical design, develop and enhance data systems and pipelines to support process automation and optimization in our standard reporting and predictive analytic processes. Moreover, you will create automated solutions (e.g. alarms, dashboards, etc.) to monitor data integrity.
- You should have the ability to develop and tune SQL/Python/Spark scripts to provide optimized solutions to the business.
Job Requirements:
The EU CF PXT PMO is comprised of a mix of Data Analysts, BIE´s, Data Scientists and PMs and is on the front line of Amazon’s mission to be the most customer centric company in the world by deriving and reporting, EU wide, the insights and analytics that inform and drive forward the HR activities to ultimately improve our people metrics. We perform the standard reporting (WBR,MBR,QBR,DBR) for our PxT and Ops Leaders across the range of EU CF People Metrics. Additionally our data science wing provides predictive analytic modelling to inform our leaders in advance of a key metric.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Informatics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
- 5+ years of industry experience in data engineering, data science, business intelligence or related field
- Demonstrated strength in data modelling, data management, ETL development, and data architectures (e.g. data warehouse, data lakes, data lakehouse, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience with Amazon data certification process (Infosec, ANVIL, KALE, etc) and European Regulation for highly confidential data
- Database design and administration experience with various RDBMS, such as MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.
- Data architecture experience with AWS products (e.g. Redshift, RDS, S3, Glue, Athena, EMR, etc.) and Amazon’s Big Data Technologies tools (e.g. EDX, Andes, Cradle, etc.) and/or Microsoft Database Software Stack (SQL Server/SSIS/SSAS)
- Advanced SQL and query performance tuning skills.
- 3+ year of coding experience with modern programming or scripting language (Python, Spark, Scala, Java, etc.).
- Experience building data products incrementally, integrating and managing diverse siloed data sets (five V’s of Big Data)
- Master’s Degree in Data Engineering, Applied Data Science, Data and Web Science, or related certification
- Knowledge of systems engineering to optimize integration of data service/software solutions with data infrastructure
- Proven track record of applying data engineering for enabling business analytics (Engineering, Operations, Finance, etc.)
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for the best practices on data engineering
- Experience using business intelligence reporting tools (AWS QuickSight, Qlik, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, CI/CD, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, analytics solutions productization and operations.
