Job Responsibilities: Training for Transportation Management Trainees is a six-month program. This opportunity begins with a two-week comprehensive orientation at BNSF Corporate Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. Following orientation, the trainee will complete several additional weeks at the BNSF Technical Training Center (TTC) in Overland Park, Kansas, their field headquarter location, and at the Network Operations Center in Fort Worth. Overall, the trainee will learn to manage railroad terminal operations, work on specific logistics projects, manage a crew (which consists of a conductor and engineer), and prepare for a field operations supervisory position. Job Responsibilities: Hold employees accountable for compliance with rules and regulations established by the Federal Railroad Administration and BNSF Railway. Assist crews with personnel paperwork, vacation requests, and provide transportation for crews to board and operate the trains timely. Ride trains with the crews and direct operational testing & audits for the crews. Lead crew discussions on how to approach others about safety, relay information about safely servicing customer plants and facilities, ways to minimize risk, and create a culture of safety compliance. Optimize crew utilization, the use of locomotives, and rail teams who work on track infrastructure in order to plan/execute track maintenance and repairs. Participation in classroom and field training. Correspond with customers by providing accurate and timely information regarding their shipments to and from customer facility/plants on a daily basis. Ensure compliance with attendance policies and rules violations. Plan the movement of cars, inventory, locomotive, crews and trains within a designated terminal and across an operational division/territory. Facilitate multiple safety briefings throughout the shift with crews, dispatchers, maintenance employees and other BNSF Team Members. Job Requirements: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations. Recognize and respond effectively to unexpected situations and tight deadlines. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree from an accredited university to be completed prior to hire OR have obtained a degree within the past three (3) years. Able to visually distinguish among red, blue, yellow and lunar (clear light) and able to see at night. Work effectively in a team environment. Ability to relocate within the BNSF Railway operating system to start and/or upon career progression and/or business need. Demonstrate leadership skills. Authorization to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future. Valid Driver’s License. Demonstrate ability to complete tasks regardless of obstacles. Able to hear and, with training, distinguish auditory signals. Express ideas and information in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
