Job Description: Under the direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel, Fraud Liaison Bureau (FLB), the Attorney I works in a team environment in FLB providing formal and informal legal representation of the Insurance Commissioner in the investigation and civil prosecution of persons and business entities who commit insurance fraud in the state. The FLB provides legal advice to the Fraud Division, which is headquartered in Sacramento. Job Responsibilities: As part of a team, the incumbent reviews each case, the complex fact scenarios, researches the laws that pertain to the case, and handles or assists in all aspects of civil proceedings in the state and federal courts up to and through jury trial and appeal. Interacts with state and federal agencies, other state insurance regulators, consumer advocacy groups, insurance company special investigative units, outside counsel, the state and federal judiciary and works closely with FLB’s Legal Analysts.
