Job Description: Under the direction of a Parole Agent III or Parole Administrator I, the Parole Agent II (Supervisor) performs both a variety of peace officer duties in accomplishing the Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO), statewide Electronic In-Home Detention (EID) and Global Positioning System (GPS) program(s) goals. Acts as a Supervisor to a subordinate staff of Parole Agent I’s and oversees the day-to-day operations of the GPS Parole Unit as follows: Job Responsibilities: 45% Supervises Parole Agent I’s responsible for a set caseload of adult parolees. Participates in the application of electronic equipment (EID and GPS) on parolees and enforces compliance to EID/GPS special conditions of parole. Assists Unit Supervisors in the removal of EID/GPS equipment from parolees. Removal may occur in a parole unit, the parolees’ residence or local jail. Reviews parole field files to verify parolee location, status, and residence of record. Distributes maintenance/replacement and tracking of all electronic monitoring equipment assigned to the regions, parole district and unit. Frequently travels to parole units throughout the parole region to assist local law enforcement and field Parole Agents in conducting field contact on parolees under GPS supervision. Provides training to field parole agents and law enforcement. 25% Ensures region compliance to EID/GPS policies, procedures, and adherence to contractual agreement between the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and the contract vendor(s). Tracks and evaluates region equipment needs based on area utilization. Utilizes DAPO computerized databases, software systems, and enters evaluation data into the database. Responds to telephone or e-mail inquiries from DAPO staff and contract venders regarding the EID/GPS program. Provides cumulative EID/GPS monthly usage reports for the region to DAPO Headquarters. Assists field Parole Agents in responding to alert notifications, investigating non-compliance alert notifications, arrests, and the transportation of parolees who are in custody. 20% Approves EID/GPS vendor billings of monitoring equipment use and submits to DAPO headquarters for payment authorization. Tracks and maintains regional out -of - area transfers of electronic monitoring equipment. Assists the vendor and acts as the lead trainer in training regional Parole Agents in the installation, use, tracking, care and maintenance of electronic monitoring equipment for EID/GPS parolee participants. Develops methods to enhance EID/GPS programming. Identifies problems and recommends procedural changes to EID/GPS equipment.10% Utilizes an assigned state vehicle to assist field Parole Agents responding to GPS alert notifications and the transportation of parolees who are in custody. Attends mandatory training and performs other Parole Agent duties as assigned. Job Requirements: 1.
