Job Description:

The primary focus of this position is to support ConocoPhillips Canada’s business objectives through engaging with Government and external stakeholders. Reporting to the Supervisor, Government Relations, this role provides information to all levels of the organization regarding a variety of key external topics and issues that may impact ConocoPhillips. This is a full-time, position located in the downtown Calgary office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Help monitor and advise on political and public policy issues, risks, and opportunities, and communicate government agendas and impacts on ConocoPhillips goals and objectives with key internal stakeholders
  • Support public policy issue management and the development of tailored advocacy strategies and company positions
  • Develop briefing materials and key messages to support leadership engagement with senior government officials
  • Develop Government Relations Bulletins or other communications regarding policy and political changes impacting ConocoPhillips
  • Support the development and maintenance of strong relationships with government officials (elected and non-elected) and key public affairs influencers
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders, including key corporate partners on projects and issues of joint interest
  • As required, advocate on behalf of ConocoPhillips on select business issues through involvement in various industry and governmental committees
  • Liaise with external consultants and coordinate communications and engagement
  • Process invoices and manage association registrations

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to interface with senior external and internal leaders, and work collaboratively with subject matter experts across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • 5-10 years of experience in government relations related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the oil and gas sector
  • Relevant university degree (ex. public policy, political science etc.), master’s degree preferred Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Willingness to travel
