Job Description:
ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company has an immediate opening for a lubricant product developer who will work as a member of the Technical Staff in the Lubricants Technology organization at its Research Center in Clinton, New Jersey. The successful candidate will have core expertise in fundamental sciences and engineering as it pertains to product development. Past experience in Oil or Chemicals industries and any additional experience in the field of product development, lubricant chemistries, and motorsports would be a plus.ExxonMobil’s Clinton Research Center is a facility of scientists and engineers conducting research and development related to ExxonMobil’s Downstream and Chemical businesses. We work closely with our business partners to extend technology leadership and enhance competitive advantage.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop optimized lubricant formulations and specifications, and determine technical readiness for product release
- Interact with OEMs, equipment builders, industry and government regulatory organizations, and academia regarding development projects and industry trends
- Conceptualize, develop and evaluate new lubricant products, in conjunction with internal and external component suppliers
- Progress understanding of fundamental science principles contributing to lubricant product development
- Design experiments enabling cost effective and efficient development and testing of lubricants and base stocks and coordinate field testing activities to evaluate performance in customer equipment
- Provide technical support and advice regarding product quality issues
- Advance ExxonMobil’s technical positions in industry, academic, regulatory and professional areas
Job Requirements:
- Strong leadership skills with ability to coordinate multiple projects independently
- Proficiency with data visualization, analysis computing tools and modeling
- Willing to travel and relocate domestically
- Effective written and verbal communication, and strong collaboration skills
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Able to creatively design experiments and perform in-depth data analysis
Qualification & Experience:
- A Ph.D. or MS in Chemistry or Engineering (e.g. chemical, mechanical)
- A minimum of 5 years of industrial experience
