Job Description: This position is located in the Office of the Director, Strategic Engagement Division, Innovation Center, Rural Development (RD), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The incumbent will serve as a Tribal Relations Specialist in support of RD's Native American Coordinator and to increase the availability and utilization of RD programs on tribal lands. Job Responsibilities: Conducts outreach to tribes, tribal organizations and tribal members to understand the needs of respective tribal communities in order to assist them with identifying RD, USDA and other programs that match their needs. Provides advice regarding tribal coordination, housing, mortgage lending on tribal lands, business development, tribal community facility development and tribal infrastructure financing to Program Directors, Specialists,Technicians and IC personnel. Assists the Native American Coordinator in developing briefing materials, informational papers, reports and other documents to improve RDs service to tribes, tribal organizations and tribal members. Participates in resolving tribal specific issues and barriers related to RD programs and applications and recommends policy and/or process improvements.
