Job Description:

The Senior Security Engineer, SOAR is accountable for planning, designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting SOAR Platforms and threat response needs.

The role will be responsible for creating innovative detection and automated response strategies, by leveraging diverse source of data, intelligence and real-time streaming.

Job Responsibilities:

• Works closely with stakeholders to improve existing automation, drive automated verification and containment
• Applies advanced in-depth knowledge and considered a top resource across the organization
• Assess, design, and improve processes and workflows with a focus on integrating automation through Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) tools and technologies
• Demonstrates expert knowledge in own field, with a strong understanding of adjacent areas for the development of pragmatic and creative solutions
• Makes decisions on highly complex and ambiguous issues and provides direction regarding approach and project strategy for team(s)
• Integrates, optimizes logging sources and build playbooks to properly triage and respond to security incidents in a timely manner
• Advises one or more areas or programs and provides recommendations to senior leadership on matters of significance
• Works with management and business to identify appropriate controls to mitigate identified risks with significant impact on organization-wide compliance and security posture with far-reaching impact
• Works on unique and highly complex assignments/projects
• Work assignments involve highly complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of intangibles or unprecedented situations
• Analyzes alerts, statistics and workflows to reduce false positives
• Subject matter expert who possesses the advanced knowledge of the work specialty and organization
• Develops custom scripts to automate current detection and response workflows
• Frequently takes full ownership of difficult assignments
• Works independently across multiple areas. Receives general business direction, as needed
• Independently determines methods and procedures on new assignments and often provides technical guidance to others
• Achieves goals in creative and novel ways, operating with significant autonomy

Job Requirements:

• Typically requires a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or Information Security and 8+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• A minimum of 1 information security certification is required e.g. CISSP, CCSP, CEH, GIAC, SANS
• Requires expert problem-solving skills and advanced interpersonal and communication skills including influencing others
• Excellent knowledge of Security Orchestration, Automation and Response tools and technologies (e.g. Demisto/XSOAR, Sentinel, Phantom, etc.)
• Broad knowledge of all aspects of IT, including application development, network and system administration, quality assurance, and application and data management
• Strong understanding of integration, development architecture such as API, web services, etc.
• Expert understanding in at least 1 of cloud security, application security, platform security, authentication security and database security controls
• Good understanding of Incident response processes, network threat landscape
• Strong knowledge of Python and at least one of the following scripting languages (Groovy, Bash, Ruby, Powershell)
• Excellent knowledge of Information Security risk, and industry best practices and applicable regulatory requirements, including PCI, PIPEDA, GDPR, CCPA
