Job Description:


The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of high quality services to top tier public and private sector clients. Working in a team, the Senior Consultant will advise on major capital projects for government (federal, provincial and municipal) as well as the private sector across a wide variety of sectors including mining, power and utilities, oil and gas, accommodation, transportation, waste to energy, and water and wastewater.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure planning and strategy
  • Support business development regionally and nationally within the practice in both public and private sector markets
  • Actively participate in responding to Requests for Proposal for advisory mandates on infrastructure projects
  • Support development of KPMG’s profile within the marketplace through industry involvement, contribution to internal and external publications, and presentation at conferences and industry events
  • Commercial structuring of complex contracts
  • Coordinating legal, financial and/or technical teams
  • Procurement and process management
  • Feasibility, business case and market analysis
  • Procurement options analysis
  • Project risk assessment, including identification and quantification of risks through Monte Carlo analysis
  • Project governance and project management frameworks
  • Contract management
  • Project implementation advice through design and construction
  • Project controls (cost, schedule and risk management; change control; and reporting)

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven capability of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to communicate and effectively engage with a diverse group of clients
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proven track record at “juggling” multiple and competing priorities

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Commerce (combined with an MBA is preferred, but not required)
  • 2-5 years of industry experience
  • Project/construction management and/or procurement experience with large capital projects
  • Project controls and contract management experience
  • A solid understanding of the lifecycle activities supporting an infrastructure asset
  • Experience with various contract types e.g. DBB, DB, EPC, EPCM, DBFO
  • Experience drafting business plans (preferred, but not required)
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
